The “Impact of World View” model illustrates that behaviors and skills are the visible indicators of deeper, internal thinking—values, attitudes, and World View. Internal thinking defines so much of whom leaders are that it significantly impacts their behaviors, skill development, and ultimately the effectiveness of their leadership. Most leader development initiatives are aimed only at the observable level of skills and behaviors. Most lasting change in leader development, however, comes from consideration and strategic development of the leader’s internal thinking—values, attitudes and World View. Most development opportunities have to deal with working on people’s skills and behaviors.
